LAMAR, Colo .– The Western Nebraska Community College No.14 volleyball team recorded 10 aces and clinched a straight-set victory over Lamar Community College 25-13, 25-18, 25-14 in a game of South IX region conference Friday in Lamar, Colorado.

The Cougars started the game with good serve and the serve remained precise for the three sets needed to secure the victory.

WNCC received two aces from Macey Boggs, Mariah Fukumoto and Erica Fava. Four different players had at least one ace, including Jayla Brehmer, Ale Meoni, Hyleigh Fornstrom and AnaKaren Chavez.

The Cougars also had a good front row play, as Fava and Meoni led the way with 11 kills apiece. Fornstrom and Jenna Curtis each have five wins, while Angel Nahinu has three and Brehmer and Laura Milori have two each.

Boggs, who is second in the country in total assists, finished with 29 assists on the evening. Boggs, a Gering High School graduate, also had seven points and four recoveries.

Julia Moccellin tallied four assists with four digs and seven points. Meoni led the way with eight points, followed by Fukumoto and Fava with five and Milori with three.

Fava led the way with five digs followed by four each by Boggs, Meoni and Moccellin.

WNCC, 16-8, will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Sterling, Colo. For a big game against Northeastern Junior College, a team that has been in the national tournament for the past three seasons.
