Say what? Texas ranked among least patriotic states
I didn’t see this one coming.
I served alongside a whole bunch of Texans in the Navy. Most of my fellow Texan sailors were like me in that they were first American and then Texan. But I know there are a lot of people at Lone Star State who are the exact opposite. I don’t know about you, but my parents instilled a lot of Texan pride in me growing up.
So, that being said, I guess it makes sense that a recent study by financial website WalletHub found Texas to be among the least patriotic states.
While Texas was ranked # 4 for highest average military enlistment, the state was ranked # 49 for civic engagement, which resulted in our ranking down.
Other factors they used to reach their conclusions were the average number of ex-combatants per capita, the number of Peace Corps volunteers per capita, the percentage of adults who voted in the 2020 presidential election. and the rate of volunteers.
The study found that the Red States are slightly more patriotic than the Blue States. The average rank of the blue states was 25.68% against 25.32% in the red states (the smaller number represents a more patriotic state).
Top 20 most patriotic states

- Caroline from the south
