A portion of New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative funding in Tioga County helped an Owego business open and provide a means for other properties to be refreshed and renewed.
Home Central held the grand opening of a new kitchen and bathroom showroom and design center in Owego on Tuesday 2nd August.
The showroom in a more than 100-year-old building at the corner of Fox Street and Central Avenue is the result of a major renovation of the old building itself.
In a press release announcing August 2n/a grand opening, Home Central said the location gives the community an opportunity to keep business in the area and make the home renovation process easier.
There had been a huge surge in interest in home improvement and building projects more recently during the pandemic as people locked down and noticed all the work that could be done in their surroundings, to both inside and outside their homes and businesses.
The center offers a design center where homeowners and contractors can tour cabinetry styles and finishes, countertops, windows, flooring, cladding and doors.
New York State’s revitalization initiative in Owego aimed to make substantial improvements to an area of Tioga County that was hard hit by the historic 2011 floods.
Fox Street company officials say the availability of the showroom and design center in Owego could serve as a resource that will help keep all aspects of home improvement and construction in the city. community instead of being outsourced for services and materials outside the southern part.
