Albany Empire to host open trials on May 1
The Albany Empire is just over a month away from its 2021 season opener on Saturday, May 29 at the Times Union Center and you could play that game. The Empire will host open trials on Saturday, May 1 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Afrim Sports Park. This is your chance to see if you have what it takes to be a member of the last team to win an AFL Championship. Do you or someone you know think they have what it takes to help the Empire bring a NAL title to Albany?
The Albany Empire is hosting an open trial on May 1 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Afrim Sports Park. It’s $ 60 per player for pre-registration and $ 75 at the door.
Albany Empire head coach Tom Menas told News 10 ABC’s Liana Bonavita in an interview with Zoom why he wanted to host the open trials:
“I know there are some great players sitting at home on their couch right now,” Menas said. “I know there are guys out there who could play in the NFL at home. I know there are some guys at home who could probably play at the highest level who never had the chance. You might already have a quarterback, you might already have a running back, you might already have a wide receiver, but this kid is so special that you just watched him, ”added Menas. “Sign it. Let him enter the camp and at least compete. You can change a man’s life in any of these areas, ”Menas said.
This could be the perfect storm for some of the Capital Region’s extremely talented athletes. It would be great to be the reason the Empire wins its first Arena National League Championship and its second Arena Football title overall!
