The softball community considers Grand Island an ideal location because of the facilities and proximity to hotels and restaurants.
Grand Island Tourism, which provides financial support for the event, produced a preliminary economic impact study based on the number of teams showing a direct impact for Grand Island at over $ 650,000 for the four-day tournament.
Grand Island Tourism Director Brad Mellema said the tournament stands out for its size. It will bring about 4,000 people to town. “Team sports tournaments like this prove the value of investing in facilities like the Veterans Sports Complex, with its ten fields and large parking lot.
